SUMMARY:Best Practices for Utilizing Good Acoustics\, Daylighting and Sustainability in Modern School Design
DESCRIPTION:Speaker:John Heinly\, AIA | Western Regional Manager | EPIC Metals \nDuring this one-hour lunch and learn\, we will discuss the best practices in modern school design\, like utilizing good acoustics\, daylighting and sustainability related to Roof & Floor Deck Ceiling Systems that you can use at your firm. The Art and Science of structural deck engineering discussed can enable a designer to create unique\, visually open public spaces with responsible materials and unmatched acoustic. \nAttendees will learn – amongst other things – about the importance of good acoustical design\, the benefits of natural daylighting and how acoustical metal deck ceiling systems can contribute\, and the sustainability factors in acoustical metal deck ceiling systems specifically in the learning environment. \n\nEarn 1 LU|HSW for attending live.\n\n  \nhttps://youtu.be/-ipXdE8iHMM \n\n Additional Resources\n Additional Resources \nFull Presentation_Best Practices Acoustics\, Daylighting\, Sustainability

SUMMARY:Using Microgrids for Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Moderator:\nDavid Kaneda\, FAIA\, PE\, LEED Fellow | Principal and Thought Leader\, IDeAs Consulting\, Inc.\nSpeakers:\nAlex Kaffka | CEO & Senior Principal\, Verdera\nSean Armstrong | Managing Principal\, Redwood Energy\nFalling costs have increased interest in photovoltaic electric systems\, batteries\, battery recycling\, and microgrids that can operate independently of the utility grid. In this program we will illustrate how microgrids provide resilience against natural disasters and grid outages. Microgrids can also reduce carbon emissions while having a positive economic impact on an individual property or community.\nThe potential for natural disasters to threaten large areas of California is significant. This webinar will provide examples of resilient microgrid\, including an approximately one MW microgrid designed for riding through Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) events\, a microgrid for a community disaster recovery center\, and microgrid systems with smart controls that provide resilience and eliminate the need for electrical service upgrades for electrification of existing single-family homes.\nQualifies for 1.5hrs of ZNCD MCE \n\n Additional Resources\n Additional Resources \nLearning Objectives + Redwood Energy_Microgrids
