SUMMARY:ARE/CSE Study Hub - PjM/PcM - Business Operations
DESCRIPTION:Study Hub is AIA California’s pathway for emerging professionals to study and pursue licensure. These statewide ARE study sessions and virtual study groups serve as a hub for education\, connection\, and community. This portal does not replace other study materials or resources\, rather it supplements them\, serving as a network and allowing for collaboration between EPs and AIA professionals across California. \nThis year\, we’re streamlining your study experience by grouping commonly paired exams together. \nPractice Management(PcM) focuses on the management of architectural practice\, including professional ethics\, fiduciary responsibilities\, and the regulations governing the practice of architecture. \nProject Management(PjM) focuses on the management of architectural projects\, including organizing principles\, contract management\, and consultant management. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of and abilities in quality control\, project team configuration\, and project scheduling. \nSession Topic: Business Operations \nHost: Amanda Wynne\, AIA

SUMMARY:Your Office is Leaking Money: How to Identify Losses and Plug the Holes
DESCRIPTION:Most firms look at profitability as a bottom-line metric. They use this as a gauge to determine if the firm is financially healthy. However\, every firm is composed of countless independent elements: employees\, clients\, projects\, phases\, consultants\, and a myriad of expenses. \nWhat does a firm do when they aren’t achieving the profit margins they desire or experiencing losses? Knowing the answer to this question is the purpose of this webinar. \nIn this webinar\, we will explore: \n\nThe best practices for monitoring the various profit-centers of your firm.\nThe means and methods that will not only alert you to problems but discuss how to resolve them.\n\nMost A&E firms don’t apply the same rigor\, discipline\, and consistency that they use when executing their projects. We will show how easy it is for your firm to be well-organized\, efficient\, and profitable by applying best practices and utilizing modern\, effortless\, affordable computing technologies. \nJoin us for an engaging\, live webinar presented by Steven Burns\, FAIA\, as he shares lessons learned over 35 years working with over 1\,000 A&E firms. \nRegistration for this FREE webinar\, brought to you by BQE will close at 12:00 pm PT on Thursday\, March 5\, 2026. \nSpeaker:\nSteven Burns\, FAIA | Founder | The Well-Designed Firm\n  \nPresented by:

SUMMARY:2025 Code Breaker: Multifamily Ventilation
DESCRIPTION:Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is an important part of supporting health and safety for multifamily dwelling units\, and the 2025 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24\, Part 6 or Energy Code) establishes new Mandatory requirements for IAQ ventilation in multifamily buildings. Additional prescriptive standards now also apply to multifamily IAQ in support of energy efficiency and health and safety. \nJoin us for this one-hour session in which we will dive into the equipment and testing requirements for a multifamily dwelling unit’s IAQ and local exhaust systems (such as kitchen range hoods). \nSpeaker:\nNick Brown\, CEA | Principal | Build Smart Group\nPresented by:

SUMMARY:Candid Conversations about: Women in Design
DESCRIPTION:According to the 2020 Census\, 50.9% of the U.S. population was female\, while the remaining 49.1% was male. This means that the female population made up 168.8 million people\, while the male population made up 162.7 million. The 2020 Census also showed that the U.S. population reached 331\,449\,281 people. \nThe Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that in 2019\, 25% of the 208\,000 people working as “Architects\, except naval” in the United States were women. Importantly\, the BLS does not distinguish between licensed and non-licensed practitioners (“apprentices and trainees”). By comparison\, NCARB reports that there were 113\,554 registered architects in the United States in 2017\, so the BLS figure of 208\,000 counts many aspiring architects who are pursuing licensure\, as well as those who are not working towards a license. \nJoin us for a conversation exploring the experiences\, challenges\, and perspectives of women in architecture.

SUMMARY:Zero Net Carbon Buildings - Then\, Now and the Future
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this ZNCD webinar will close at 10am PT on Wednesday\, March 25\, 2026. Registrants will receive their Zoom link no later than 10:30am PT the day of. \nCome learn about the relevant history of building electrification\, from NYC rooftop solar in 1906 to Berlin balcony solar in 2026\, from a gas ban that followed the 1923 Berkeley Fire to the 80+ gas bans that followed the fires in Santa Rosa (2017) and Paradise (2018). Then go for a deep dive into an Energy Commission funded\, futuristic\, 100% renewably powered off-grid apartment complex under construction in Petaluma that integrates bidirectional EVs\, ultra-efficient appliances\, a large central battery and a big solar array to house 131 low-income families that will never have to worry about a grid power outage. Looking at the evolution of zero net carbon buildings allows to see how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. \nSpeaker:\nSean Armstrong | Principal\, Redwood Energy

SUMMARY:Architectural Record Webinar: Rewards and Challenges of Design-Assist
DESCRIPTION:Lessons for Students in Collaborative Project Delivery\n03.25.2026 | 2:00 PM EDT | 1 AIA LU/HSW; 0.1 ICC CEU \nThis webinar is part of Architectural Record’s ongoing series designed for students and emerging professionals\, offering insights from industry leaders to inspire the next generation of architects. \nBringing architects\, engineers\, and contractors to the table during a project’s design phase can offer rewards in building efficiency\, constructability\, and design refinement. However\, managing collaboration between an expanded design team can create its own set of challenges. \nOn March 25\, join RECORD and three panelists—from architecture firm Ennead\, environmental consultant Atelier Ten\, and structural and facade engineering studio Büro Ehring—who frequently incorporate design-assist methods into their work. Speakers will highlight their respective methodologies and recent case studies\, including Princeton University’s Briger Hall\, Commons\, and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery\, among others. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nDiscuss the potential building performance benefits of a design-assist approach.\nOutline the impact of design-assist on constructability.\nIdentify the challenges presented by design-assist delivery.\nExplore multidisciplinary collaboration as a means of improving design.\n\nRegister Now \nSpeakers:\nHolger Schulze Ehring – Principal\, Büro Ehring \nMatt Dionne – Principal\, Ennead Architects \nShanta Tucker – Director\, Atelier Ten

SUMMARY:If Price Is the Problem\, You're Telling the Wrong Story
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this FREE webinar\, brought to you by BQE will close at 12:00 pm PT on Thursday\, April 2\, 2026. \nToo many firms assume they lost the job because their price was too high. In most cases\, however\, the fee is merely a convenient excuse that masks a deeper issue. When a client does not clearly understand the value your firm brings to the table\, price becomes the deciding factor. That is not a pricing problem. It is a positioning problem. \nThis webinar challenges the outdated belief that winning work is about being competitive. You will learn how to earn trust\, create emotional resonance\, and position your firm as the only logical choice long before fees are ever discussed. We will explore how to shape the client’s perception\, elevate your value\, and design a sales process that moves your firm from the pricing conversation to a position of strength. \nThis session is for firm leaders who are ready to stop selling time and start selling expertise. \nSpeaker:\nSteven Burns\, FAIA | Founder | The Well-Designed Firm\nPresented by:
