SUMMARY:2022 Code Breaker Single-Family HERS Verified Quality Insulation Installation Webinar
DESCRIPTION:This course focuses on prescriptive quality insulation installation (QII) requirements in the 2022 Energy Code for new single-family buildings of any size and additions greater than 700 ft². \nThis course helps designers and architects create projects that meet QII requirements and helps energy consultants clarify the minimum requirements and schedule of inspections the team needs to succeed when the Certificate of Compliance form (CF1R and LMCI) calls for QII. Contractors will learn how to coordinate with HERS raters and subcontractors on inspection dates and other QII requirements. SUMMARY:Study Hub: Project Planning & Design (PPD)
DESCRIPTION:Project Planning & Design (PPD) focuses on the preliminary design of sites and buildings. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of and abilities in design concepts\, sustainability/environmental design\, universal design\, and other forms of governing codes and regulations. \nSpeaker: Elif Bayram \nElif Bayram is the founder of arequestions.com\, a specialized platform committed to offering comprehensive practice materials for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Architectural Registration Examinations (ARE). Ms. Bayram’s academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture obtained from Selcuk University\, Turkey in 2008\, followed by a Master’s degree in Architectural Design at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2010. \nDuring the course of her own preparation for the ARE exams\, she identified a scarcity of adequate practice material\, which led her to create her own collection of questions to complement her studies. \nOver time\, her library expanded to over 1100 questions\, which she began to share with her colleagues and friends. Encouraged by the positive feedback from the architectural community\, Ms. Bayram brought arequestions.com to fruition in late 2020\, extending her invaluable resources to the wider ARE candidate community. In her endeavor to deliver a comprehensive learning experience\, Elif Bayram does not limit her offerings to practice questions. She also provides extensive video lectures on various ARE topics and holds regular interactive sessions on Zoom\, aimed at guiding licensure candidates. Moreover\, she shares her knowledge through free\, one-on-one meetings with candidates\, free presentations on diverse subjects\, such as strategies to successfully pass the ARE examinations\, structural systems and more. Since early\, 2022\, Elif works full time for her company and works on increasing the content of her platform continuously.

SUMMARY:CALGreen Embodied Carbon Series: Implications of Material Procurement for Design Professionals
DESCRIPTION:This session qualifies for 1 LU/HSW and 1 hr Zero Net Carbon Design Mandatory Continuing Education. (Live webinar attendees only) \nThe CALGreen Embodied Carbon series is a joint educational program between the SEAOC Sustainable Design Committee and AIA CA. \nThis educational webinar addresses the code changes adopted by the California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) on August 2\, 2023\, focusing on reducing embodied carbon emissions in large-scale building construction projects. Understanding these changes is crucial\, as compliance becomes mandatory starting July 1\, 2024. Structural engineers and architects play a pivotal role in implementing these requirements effectively\, shaping the future of sustainable construction. \nThis session will focus on implementation of the Prescriptive pathway which relies on Environmental Product Declarations for materials and lowering embodied carbon through material selection and procurement. The presentation will be a roundtable discussion facilitated by industry experts from AIA CA and SEAOC who will be joined by contractors and manufacturers responsible for meeting the prescriptive performance requirements by material. Discussion topics will include collaboration between design and construction teams\, supply chain engagement\, specifications\, and practical examples. \nSpeakers: \nAvideh Haghighi\, AIA\, LFA | Associate Principal\, ZGF\nLuke Lombardi\, PE | Senior Sustainability Consultant\, Buro Happold\nJames Little | Director of Technical Sales\, NRMCC\nJessie Buckmaster\, LFA\, LEED AP BD+C | Director of Sustainability\, Hathaway Dinwiddie\nHafsa Burt\, AIA\, LEED Fellow\, LFA | Founder & Design Director\, hb+a Architects\nSophie Pennetier | Associate Director Special Projects\, enclos and Adjunct Faculty with SCI-Arc\nSalma Syed\, PE | Structural Project Manager\, DCI Engineers\nDavid P. SUMMARY:2024 Common Application Webinar
DESCRIPTION:VIEW THIS WEBINAR ON VIDEO – SCROLL DOWN \nHost: Katie Ackerly\, AIA – Common Application Jury Chair\n*** Early Bird Registration for the AIA California Design Awards Ends 03.22.24 Register Here ***\n \nThis year AIA California is hosting a webinar to review the Common Application. Come join the us as we review the form in depth\, answer questions\, and discuss common mistakes caught by the Common Application Review Jury. \nThe Common App for Design Excellence is an Excel-based tool\, originally conceived of and developed by Corey Squire\, AIA; Helena Zambrano\, AIA; and Anne Schopf\, FAIA; and others. The tool is intended to help streamline sustainability reporting for AIA design awards. Since its inception\, more than two dozen Design Awards Committees at the state and local level have adopted the Common App as part of the submission requirements for their chapter”™s design awards. Over the past year\, the COTE Network Common App Subcommittee has refreshed the Common App to improve consistency with the AIA Framework for Design Excellence and to enhance user functionality. – AIA COTE Network \nIf planning to submit for the AIA California Design Awards\, please look over the Common Application prior to the webinar and prepare questions to ask the panelists.
