SUMMARY:New LEED® v5 Resilience Assessments
DESCRIPTION:This session qualifies for 1.5 LU/HSW\, 1.5hrs ZNCD MCE and NEW – GBCI Credit for self-reporting! (live webinar attendees only). \nRegistration for this webinar will close at 10am PT on Wednesday\, June 18\, 2025. Registrants will receive their Zoom link no later than 10:30am PT the day of.  \nThe U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED v5 building rating and certification system provides architects and building owners a framework through which they can understand and manage their risk exposure following a natural disaster. LEED v5 includes important updates to transportation\, site\, energy\, materials\, and indoor environmental quality credits\, binging them into alignment with current best practice and technologies\, and also includes a new resilience assessment prerequisite and credits rewarding resilience and building design features. \nThese updates will support the understanding that buildings should be designed to support occupant health and safety during and after hazard events\, reduce the risk of damage from natural hazards\, and prepare for projected climate change over the course of their service lives. In this session\, we will define key resilience concepts\, outline the new resilience prerequisites and credits in LEED\, and discuss the role of owners and project teams in successfully implementing these requirements. \nSpeakers:  \nGail Napell\, AIA\, LEED AP BD+C | Architect and Citizen at Large \nAlan Scott\, FAIA\, LEED Fellow\, LEED AP BD+C\, O+M\, CEM\, WELL AP | Director of Sustainability\, Building Science Solutions at Intertek \nKarema Enos | Associate Director\, LEED Technical Development\, USGBC

SUMMARY:Adaptive Reuse: Unlocking Sustainable Conversions
DESCRIPTION:This session qualifies for 1 LU/HSW\, 1hr ZNCD MCE and NEW – GBCI Credit for self-reporting! (pending approval\, live webinar attendees only). \nRegistration for this webinar will close at 10am PT on Wednesday\, June 25\, 2025. Zoom links will be sent no later than 10:30am the day of. \nJoin us for an in-depth discussion on adaptive reuse\, exploring the transformation of underutilized buildings—offices\, churches\, schools\, libraries\, and more—into much-needed housing. With rising construction costs\, the climate crisis\, and the urgent demand for housing\, repurposing existing structures offers a viable\, sustainable and more equitable solution. This webinar will highlight the environmental impact of embodied carbon\, the role of adaptive reuse in meeting global climate goals (including the 1.5°C target)\, and strategies for navigating policy\, financing\, and design challenges. Experts from policy\, design\, and finance will present real-world case studies and discuss best practices for successful building conversions. \nSpeakers:\nKarin Liljegren\, FAIA | Founder + Principal\, Omgivning \nMichael Bohn\, AIA | Partner and Design Director\, StudiONEleven \nSteven Paynter\, OAA\, ARB | Principal/Global Practice Area Leader\, Gensler \nIsmar Enriquez\, AIA | Design Lead and Project Manager\, Practice
