SUMMARY:From Policy to Practice - Understanding the 2025 CA WUI Code Provisions and Wildfire Zone 0
DESCRIPTION:This session qualifies for 1 LU/HSW (live webinar attendees only\, pending AIA approval). \nRegistration for this webinar will close at 10am PT on Wednesday\, December 10\, 2025. Registrants will receive their Zoom link no later than 10:30am PT the day of.  \n2025 WUI updates and revisions have been adopted but are subject to the standard 6-month delay in activation. These revisions include a reorganization of information\, helping to clarify provisions that were previously scattered in different places and difficult to follow. \nIn this webinar\, our panelists will review these changes\, providing an overview of the newly established 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface (CWUI) Code\, now Part 7 of Title 24. This summary will show how the CWUI Code consolidates wildland-urban interface requirements from three separate California codes into a single\, comprehensive document for clarity and consistency. This important webinar will also cover potential future developments to continue to support building design\, construction\, and code enforcement\, addressing broader wildfire risk reduction goals in California. \nSpeakers:\nPamela Brief\, PLA\, ASLA | President Pamela Studios & Instructor at UCLA Extension \nPaul Armstrong\, PE\, CBO | Regional Manager\, American Wood Council

SUMMARY:2021 IEBC: A Focus on Commercial Structure to Residential
DESCRIPTION:Last year\, California Building Standards Commission altered California”™s Title 24 Part 10 Existing Building Code (CEBC) by adding Chapters 6\, 7\, 8\, 9\, 10\, 11 and 13 of the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) into the 2022 CEBC. \nWhat does this mean? Adding these chapters into the CEBC provides more pathways for compliance when working with existing buildings in California for occupancy changes. \nThe ICC has developed courses on these new-to-California chapters and compliance pathways for adaptive reuse projects. \nICC’s course 2021 IEBC: A Focus on Commercial Structure to Residential will discuss the requirements for a change of occupancy from a warehouse (S-1 or S-2) to a condo or apartment complex using the 2021 IEBC.
